accompaniment for trad dance music . We will look at some simple alternative tunings such as drop D, learn how to think about accompanying modal music using drones and moving fragments of chords as well as more standard chord shapes, and explore strumming patterns for jigs, reels & 3/2 hornpipes.
Spoons Workshop. Come and learn to play the spoons! Jo will teach a variety of techniques and rhythms, and then put them together to create a short routine. Spoons will be provided but bring your own if you’d like to. No experience necessary. Sense of humour essential.
Pete will teach a couple of great tunes by ear, phrase by phrase, and show how traditional bowing can bring out the rhythm and life of the music. Mainly for intermediate level players or above, but all fiddlers welcome.’
